Our Club

The East Sussex Reptile and Amphibian Society was established in 1982 under the title of The East Sussex Herpetological Society. The Society changed its name in 1998.

The Society promotes the care and well-being of reptiles and amphibians, both in nature and in captivity. We provide funds towards conservation work, with particular emphasis on our native species. Although we are not a rescue society, we will assist in rescues and re-homing requests when possible.

As a Society we generally recommend that captive bred animals are purchased wherever possible.

At our regular monthly meetings amateur and professional herpetologists, including veterinary surgeons, keep you informed and entertained with talks, slide and video presentations. You will meet others who are interested in our native reptiles and amphibians and those who like to keep and breed 'Exotic' species.

Members will often bring their pets to meetings. If you are new to reptile or amphibian keeping you will meet members with experience of keeping a wide variety of species. If you are an 'expert' you will be able to exchange ideas with other 'experts' and pass on your knowledge.
